Mr Constable trained at Cambridge and Oxford Universities before moving to Moorfields Eye Hospital for his higher specialist ophthalmic training, gaining comprehensive clinical and surgical experience in all of the major subspecialities within ophthalmology.
He spent two years as a research fellow in the Institute of Ophthalmology and the Glaucoma Unit of Moorfields Eye Hospital, as well as doing a clinical glaucoma fellowship at Moorfields, during which time he gained extensive experience into all aspects of the surgical and medical management of glaucoma.
In addition to his extensive glaucoma experience, he had a broad surgical training, including advanced phacoemulsification and refractive surgery techniques, neuro-ophthalmology and management of strabismus (squints).
As a consultant ophthalmologist at the Royal Berkshire Hospital he provides a broad general ophthalmic service, as well as running specialist clinics for the management of glaucoma and cataracts. He established and runs a daycase cataract service at Newbury hospital, using modern small incision sutureless phacoemulsification cataract surgery, generally under local anaesthetic.
